Lidl switches its battery-powered logistics fleet for a green hydrogen-powered one

German supermarket chain Lidl is replacing the entire fleet of battery-electric vehicles at a logistics hub in Carquefou (western France) with a green hydrogen-powered fuel cell fleet, making it the first of its kind in Europe. The centre will be fuelled with 75 kilograms of green hydrogen per day, generated 75 kilometres away by Lhyfe using wind power.

Lidl has said it is considering deploying green hydrogen fuel cell vehicles in other logistics centres in the medium term or using them to power part of its fleet of delivery trucks.
